The Hoover Family PNG Lifestyle Challenge

Story

Hi!

You probably know that Jared and I have been passionately investing in Australia and Papua New Guinea as full time volunteer workers, supported by friends, families and churches at home, for the past ten years.

What you may not know is that ...
  • Papua New Guinea is #152 on the Human Development Index while Australia is #2
  • 5 women in Papua New Guinea die in childbirth every day
  • 1 in 13 children die before the age of 5

AND... this is happening just off our coast!

For over five years, we have been working in partnership with PNG to deliver medical support through our Medical Ship, helping Papua New Guineans overcome the impossible in their own nation. We've had great success and are in the process of raising $5 million to secure a new ship ... by December 4!

It sounds like an impossible figure, but we believe it is possible to overcome.

As our way of helping to make this possible, our family is going to take on a PNG Lifestyle Challenge! The more money we raise, the more PNG we will live! We love our friends and family in PNG and love when we get to stay in their villages, living, working and eating alongside them - it will be totally different to do that right here in Australia!!

Here's where you come in... It will cost about $21/per patient to get this ship to PNG. The more we can raise, the more like a Papua New Guinean we will live!

$100 - use only PNG greetings - THIS IS HAPPENING!
$300 - above, PLUS eat only PNG foods - THIS IS HAPPENING!
$600 - all of the above, PLUS prepare foods like a Papua New Guinean THIS IS HAPPENING! WHO CAN GET US TO THE NEXT STEP!?
$1000 - all or the above, PLUS learn and perform a PNG song and dance on video
$1500 - all of the above, PLUS sleep on a woven mat on the floor
$2100 - all of the above, PLUS kids give up toys
$2800 - all of the above, PLUS Rebekah wears a meri blaus
$3600 - all of the above, PLUS use a bilum as a briefcase/handbag
$4500 - all of the above, PLUS Jared wears a sulu
$5500 - all of the above, PLUS walk to shops and other errands
$7500 - all of the above, PLUS have to start their own fire with flint
$10500 - all of the above, PLUS have to butcher their own chicken to eat

Help us overcome the impossible by sharing this page, commenting, or clicking “donate now” to make a secure online donation. Your donation will go directly toward securing this beautiful new vessel for PNG!

Thanks so much for your support!

Love,
Jared, Rebekah, Max, Elianna and Annelyn
