It has been a wonderful journey, some very happy, exciting, humorous, challenging and sad times over these many years, which I reflect on regularly;and one of greatest passions has been spending my retirement serving as the Australian Patron of YWAM Medical Ships - Australia.
As you know, YWAM MSA have been transporting medical teams into remote areas of Papua New Guinea, delivering 180,680 health, training and community outputs since 2010. In a nation where five women die in childbirth every day, one in 13 children die before the age of five, and someone dies of Tuberculosis every two hours, we are addressing very important health needs in collaborative cooperation at grassroots, Provincial and National levels. It has been very rewarding to help empower PNG to reach their own destiny!
We now have the great challenge to secure a new vessel - the MV Ammari, which will help increase the work in PNG by over 500%. Our challenge is to raise $6.5 million to secure the vessel.
It may sound like an impossible figure, but I believe it is possible to overcome this challenge.
As a way of helping to make this possible, I will be overcoming my own challenge
:
trading in my man bag for a bilum bag and
bringing it
with me everywhere I go.
I'm
asking
people to donate $50/day for each day I
"
bring my bilum bag
"
with me. You can choose one day to support me, or you can just pay $10 towards my goal. Any amount will help large or small!
If you'd like to see me bring my bag to your favourite or most unique place in Townsville I'm willing to take up the challenge for an extra $50!
Please send me an email with a date and place.?
If you give through this site, the money will go directly to YWAM MSA. You can either give immediately, or send me a message to make a pledge.
Help us Overcome the Impossible
and
support PNG as I
"
bring my bilum bag
"
with me
, by sharing my page, commenting, or clicking “donate now” to make a secure online donation.
Thanks so much for your support!
Warm Regards,
Mike
PS - For those who are social media, savvy, I will be posting photos of me
